Six jobs on one forecourt
Walk a typical site from entrance to exit and there are six places where something worth catching happens.
1. Pumps. Fuel leaving the nozzle on a vehicle that is not going to pay.
2. Till. The queue getting longer before it turns a customer around at the door.
3. Forecourt. A spill, a blocked lane, a vehicle left where it shouldn't be.
4. Cold aisle. A chiller door left open for longer than it should be.
5. Car wash. A bay sitting idle or jammed while cars wait to get in.
6. Exit. The plate that left without paying, matched while it still matters.

Start with the pumps
Unpaid fuel alone costs the average UK forecourt around £12,500 a year, roughly £1,000 a month. Across the country that comes to more than £100 million a year over about 1.5 million incidents, and the average incident is £60.16.
An agent on the pumps doesn't need the other five to justify itself. It only needs to catch a handful of those a week. Everything after that is covered by cameras you already own.
